Managing Director
On leaving general practice Deryk joined BOC as an Innovations consultant identifying route to market and IPR issues for new medical products. Deryk then established the European subsidiary of a US clinical research organisation that provided an important international element to support the $40m float of the parent company. Deryk then co-founded Metamorph Ltd. This company provided novel training, assessment and benchmarking for medical representatives and sales teams as a whole. 18 months ago this company was successfully exited in the UK and Metamorph Inc was founded.
Commercial and Development Director
Barbara Lead has recently been appointed as the Commercial and Development Director with specific responsibility to steer the commercialisation plans and liaise with our license partners.
She has over twenty years experience in leading pharmaceutical companies, having worked in the asthma and allergy therapy area with a number of companies including Fisons, Rhone Poulenc Rorer, Orion Pharma and Akela Pharma.
Barbara has considerable experience in respiratory drug and medical device development, having been involved in bringing 15 products into the market. She has proven ability in marketing and market segmentation and raising brand awareness in the respiratory market.
Financial Director
Zia is a Chartered Accountant having qualified and worked with Deloitte for 10 years. He worked for 7 years as director of corporate finance and finance director of the public houses division of Ascot Holdings plc.
In 1995 he founded VA Corporate Finance Ltd, which provides corporate finance and financial consultancy services to SMEs. In 1999 he was appointed as finance director of Anson Medical Limited, an early stage medical devices company, which was sold in 2001 to Lombard Medical plc, an AIM listed company.
Research Director
Mark was a senior lecturer in Marine Chemistry at the University of Southampton. He also has a degree in Electrical Engineering and has pioneered ATL’s research and development based on his experience of measuring CO2 in ocean beds.
Technical Consultant
Mike was Director of Innovations at BOC Group and responsible for over 300 patents. He is the only person ever to have been awarded an MBE for Innovation, having been responsible for a string of industrial processes and innovations used widely across industry today. He is a committee member of the Royal Society of Chemistry, peer review member of EPSRC, Freeman of the City of London and consults for the Government Office.
Mike is highly regarded and brings significant knowledge and experience to ATL of commercialising innovative products. His wide contact base and industrial knowledge is also likely to be of benefit in marketing the products into other applications. Mike is also a major shareholder in the company.
Non Executive Director
Jason has been a successful venture capitalist for the last 9 years firstly with HSBC Ventures, where he was a director, and latterly with South East Growth Fund where he is Fund Principal. Jason has completed a wide range of successful investments, including Phoenix Electrical Holdings, Castle Tapes Group, Oxford Market Research Agency and the Nuffield Press. He has also held a number of non-executive board positions with SMEs.
